The cost of a dental implant in Sydney can be confusing. One clinic may advertise them for $3,000, while another quotes $8,000 or more. Often, the difference is simply that the quotes include different stages of treatment.
Our fee for a single tooth implant is $5,000 – $7,000. This fee covers the implant itself, the connector and the final crown (not just a single stage).
When comparing prices, it’s worth checking exactly what’s included, as some lower advertised prices may only cover one part of the process.
What Exactly Is a Dental Implant?
A dental implant is made up of three parts: a titanium implant fixture placed in the bone, a connector called an abutment, and a custom-made crown that forms the visible tooth.
Over time, the implant bonds with the bone to create a stable base for the crown. Once the treatment is complete, you can eat, speak and clean around it much like you would with a natural tooth.
How Long Does the Process Take?
Dental implants are completed in stages rather than in a single appointment. After the implant is placed, it usually needs around four to six months to heal and bond with the bone. Once it is secure, the connector and crown can be fitted.
The process takes a little longer than some other treatments, but with good care, a dental implant can last for many years.
What Affects the Price?
The cost can vary depending on:
- The type of implant used
- Whether bone grafting is needed
- The type of crown and dental lab used
Is an Implant Worth It Compared to a Bridge or Denture?
Bridges and dentures may cost less upfront and sound less scary, but implants offer some long-term benefits. Unlike a bridge, an implant does not rely on the neighbouring teeth, and it can feel more stable than a removable denture.
Each option has its advantages, so the best choice will depend on your teeth, budget and preferences. Please feel free to discuss your concerns with your dentist at Mascot Dental Clinic.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does getting a dental implant hurt? The procedure is done under local anaesthetic, so you should not feel pain while the implant is being placed. Some soreness or swelling for a few days afterwards is normal.
How long do dental implants last? With good oral hygiene and regular dental check-ups, implants can last for many years. Like natural teeth, they still need daily brushing and cleaning around them.
Can anyone get a dental implant? Many people are suitable for implants, but it depends on your bone, oral health and medical history. An examination and 3D X-ray will help us determine whether an implant is right for you.
